Emergency Alert
This urgent action request concerns a critical case that will be decided next week by the Mexican Supreme Court. This case is of tremendous importance to the democratic trade union movement in Mexico as it challenges the government's practice of interfering in the internal selection by a union of its leaders. (While the certification of union leaders is supposed to be a simple administrative procedure, it is used extensively by the government to interfere with and at times even remove independent or democratic union leaders).
Please circulate it widely and get whatever organizations and individuals (lawyers and legal organizations would be especially powerful) to send letters ASAP!
